A great first day for DX at the Burns Open Meet 2011, incorporating British Swimming's Stage 1 Preparation Meet.
After the disruptions to training in December as a result of the snow, the results of the Northampton Open Meet were definitely below what we've come to expect from our team. However, just a few weeks later and the team was definitely back to its brilliant best on the opening day in Sheffield.
Highlights from the day include.........
Kane Haggett 23.65 50m Freestyle - British Championships QT
Chris Steeples 29.66 50m Breaststroke - British Championships QT
Eve Farnsworth 2:26.42 200m Backstroke - Yout Nationals QT
Jodie Hawksworth's time of 1:11.99 in the 100m Breaststroke final showing a great return to top form.
Other swimmers coming very close to making the cut for British Championships were James Latham (2:32.3 200m Breaststroke), Evie Keane (31.2 50m Backstroke) and James Lovatt (56.3 100m Fly).
Some 'near misses' on NQT's came from Sarah Vasey (0.05), Gina Tovell-Coleman (0.4), Ben Goodall (0.01) and Chloe Johnson (0.4)
DX made a big impact in the finals session up against the country's finest:

Zichen Liu 3rd 100m Backstroke

There were also numerous medals throughout the day in the HDW 50m and 400m events.
