Molly Renshaw has just broken her own Midland Junior record set only on the 16th January at the Burns meet of 2.33.01 with a time of 2.32.82.
Kevin Wallbank, Connor Smith, Harry Webster and Ben Goodall have gained their first National Qualifying times of 2011 in the 200m Fly, 200m Free and 800m Free respectivley. This brings the number of qualifyers up to 17 so far, which is very good so early on in the season. Evie Keane adds the 800m Free already having 7 national times and Jodie Hawksworth adds the 400m I.M in what was a well waited for final event of the meet.
Derventio only took 19 swimmers at the meet only choosing to swim one or two events in heavy training in preparation for the British Championships in March or as a last chance qualification meet. DX came away with 11 medals and came 3rd in the medal table, with a lot of swimmers having to pull out of finals. Gold medals came from James Lovatt, Kane Haggett, Hannah Jones, Molly Renshaw, Jodie Hawksworth. Silver medals came from Lucy Wood, James Lovatt and Jodie Hawksworth, and Bronze medals came from Eve Farnsworth and Harry Webster. Other swimmers making finals were Evie Keane, Emily Allsopp, Fran Marshall, James Latham, Matt Smithurst and Connor Smith.
Abbie Wood also made the Junior Women's 100m Breaststroke final, Abbie is 11 years old and was the youngest by 2 years swam a personal best to finish in 5th place.
There were other good swims and personal best times by Mischa Menzies and Tyler-Ann Black.
