So...its the last day of the Derventio eXcel tenerife training camp 2011. 2 Sessions, packing and the last day to get those points in the pool and in the talent show.
First session was done at 7am with Emily, Ben, Molly and Evie gaining points for swimmers of the session.

After Breakfast and packing was the talent show.

First up was Steep's team the original phoneboxes who performed an aqua aerobics class with a twist.

Next up was the Red Hot Chili Peppers Matt's team doing synchronised swimming as matt posed as Tini Tempah.

Third up were the Safe Sick Badmen Kane's team with a great performance of the 3 little pigs narated by Rosie and acted out by Harry, Lucy and Molly with Ben and Kane showing their juggling skills.

Last but not least ws the A Team Zichen's team with a variety of talents some impressive muscles in the body building and Zichen showing his talents are not only in the pool but also singing a Chinese pop song.
And the Winner is....

1st - Zichen's team bagging 20 points
2nd - Matt's team
3rd - Kane's team
4th - Steep's team

Straight after lunch we headed up to the pool for the last time for the training session which included relays with lots of points up for grabs.

The first race of the afternoon was the assisted race. Each team chose a team memeber to be attached to the bungee cord and another to reel them in.

1st was Kane's team with a whopping 19 seconds with Kane reeling in ben
2nd was Steep's team with Steeps reeling in James
3rd was Zichen's team
4th was Matt's team with Matt reeling in Evie

Next was the staggered start race, in this the pb's of the swimmers in each team were added together and the teams were set off one after another with the fastest team being set off last. Andi had to join in in Zichen's team to take the place of Leah who was unable to take part.

1st was Steep's team, holding off a strong come back by Andi for Zichen's team. Third was Matt's team and fourth was Kane's team.

With Zichen's team closing in on the overall lead that Matt's team had there was all to play for with two relays to go.

The third relay was the tug of war, with two bungees tied together swimmers went head to head with swimmers from another team. With both swimmers starting at the 25m mark they swam in opposite directions and the winner was the first to touch the wall.

There were some very close races including those between: Kane and Zichen (Kane won), Sarah and Molly (Molly won), Kathryn and Emma (Kathryn won), Emily and Evie (Evie won) and Andi who was against Oli gave him a little head start but was touched out by Oli on Backstroke.

The winners were Matt's team.

The fourth relay was the breath hold relay, swimmers had to go as far as they could without breathing and the total distances were added up to determine a winner. Swimmers showed impressive breath hold in this event. The last swimmer to go was Matt who knew he had to go past 75m to win for his team. Looking nervous on the blocks he set off calmly and went a whopping 84m to take the victory, second were Matt's team. Top girl was Sasha with a massive 71m.
The last relay of the session was the 6 x 50m Freestyle...however, each swimmer before they swam had to drink a can of pop (the only time unhealthy diet was encouraged). Zichen's team won with Matt's team in second, Steep's team third and Kane's team fourth.

As it came to the end of the day and indeed the camp, the winners of the team activites were announced:

1st - Matt's team - The Red Hot Chili Peppers
2nd - Zichen's team - The A Team
3rd - Steep's team - The Original Phoneboxes
4th and the winners of the wooden spoon - Kane's team - The Safe Sick Badmen.

Along with this there were 3 extra awards. Each swimmer had voted for their male and female swimmers of the camp. This was based on performances in the pool, professionalism, team work and overall.

Male Swimmer of the Camp went to:
1st Ben Goodall and Zichen Liu
2nd James Latham

Female Swimmer of the Camp went to:

1st Sarah Vasey
2nd Molly Renshaw and Leah Hollingsoworth

Coaches Swimmer of the Camp went to:

James Latham

After all the excitment we had our team photo for T3 and were all given a T3 t-shirt.

We then grabbed a quick bite to eat and got on the bus to go to the airport. Here there was a bit of celeb spotting with Alison King aka Corronation Street's Carla Connor, who gave her autograph to Emma, Kathryn and Tyler.

Then a very tired swim squad got on the plane and headed back to rainy England. Back at Moorways at 2.20am.
We all had an amazing time! Thanks to Andi, Kim, Leanne and Sue from the whole squad and everyone else who helped make the camp so great!

Love from Emma, Leah, Kathryn and Tyler x
