What a start!

So the camp got off to a great start with a double whammy from Zichen, no passport and no Euros!! With very few tearful goodbyes and a lot of cheering (mainly by parents) we set of for our hour long drive to Birmingham airport. As ever the coach trip was full of music, singing (luckily Evie didn’t make us go “crazy”) and intellectual debate –is a Jaffa Cake a biscuit or a cake?? (a question so important Harry had to google it!)

We arrived at the airport with plenty of time to spare; lucky as we had to walk to the furthest gate!! Jodie managed a whopping 24.7kg case but luckily was saved paying the excess baggage charge by Zichen who only packed a tiny 12.2kg.


There were a few other hiccups on the way, Hannah S had to have her bag searched as she left her laptop in her bag; and Oli, Ben, Steeps and Andi all had to have full body search, dressed in black hoodies and trackies its not that much of a surprise! Zichen got a bit confused in the departures and had to check we were still in England! The flight was a long one, made longer by the screaming babies and the cramped space. Touchdown in Tenerife was a welcome relief at half seven.

A team meeting on the journey to the hotel revealed the dreaded sleeping arrangements, and let us know the team challenges coming up in the next week. We got to the hotel on time for dinner at about nine o’clock and were greeted by a rather cute Siamese cat; although it did manage to terrify half the girls and left Harry talking in a pitch that many choir boys would be proud of!
After a quick meal, we headed straight for our rooms and an early night ready for training the next morning.

We’re hoping the rest of the week turns out to be just as fun!!
