Kane Haggett has been selected to represent Great Britain at the US Open later this year !!!
The DX Men’s Captain, will compete in Indianapolis in his first international meet as part of a team of ten British swimmers. His selection comes as a result of his outstanding performances at the British Gas Swimming Championships in London earlier this month where he recorded a time of 22.75 in the 50m Freestyle.
This selection is just reward for the improvement Kane has made in the last 3 years, progressing from a national youth semi-finalist in 2009 to now becoming a senior GB International in 2012! He has shown immense potential as a sprint freestyle swimmer yet only now, at 19 years old, is he beginning to reap the rewards of all his hard work – a great role model indeed for his team-mates. His commitment and motivation are exceptional for a swimmer who also holds down a full time job and each day is non-stop from 5:00am to 8:00pm.
Kane becomes the 5th Derventio swimmer in the last 12 months to be selected for Great Britain, in what is a growing squad of international swimmers.
All of us at Derventio wish to offer Kane our congratulations and best wishes for the US Open in August.
