Olympic Trials Day 6

Renshaw wins Silver medal in new british record time, as Haggett storms to olympic trials final.

First up in the finals session of day 6 was Derventio eXcel Captain Kane Haggett in the semi-finals of the 50m Free. Kane had a great start and blasted an outside smoker to qualify 4th for tomorrows final in a lifetime best of 22.75.

Next up was Molly Renshaw in the 200m Breaststroke final. In a very exciting race of cat and mouse Molly stormed to a New British and English age group record by finishing in 2nd place to win the Silver medal. Molly who closed in on the faster starting Tadd went 2.26.81 which is inside the FINA A time for Olympic selection, but as she finished 2nd by the narrowest of margins and will have to swim the same time again in the second trials at the Senior Nationals in June to gain selection.

Molly said 'I'm really pleased with the time and it was an exciting race. This has made me more confident and determined to go faster again in the Summer'.

Check out videos of the races from last night at www.britishswimming.org and Kane Haggett will be racing in the final on BBC red button tonight from 6.30pm!

Well done to all DX swimmers, we are all very proud of you.
