Greetings from a hot and sunny Miami.
An easy short course session this morning to get the travelling out of the system and loosen up for the camp ahead. Only 4500yds - the easiest of all 19 workouts whilst we are here.
Sun cream applied straight away, even for an 8am start, as the sun is shining!!
A chance to buy lunch, drinks and pre/post training snacks at the supermarket on the way back to the hotel followed by a couple of hours down time.
The drive from the hotel to the pool is only ten minutes but takes closer to 20 when Tracie is navigating. Despite having a sat nav to help out, we still managed to get lost twice today!!
All the swimmers had to each set themselves 3 goals for the camp and it was really good to see such positive and focused targets, although "get hench" and "lose some Christmas weight" maybe weren't exactly what we were after!
Big workout this afternoon with a hard aerobic main set of 16x300 with a No.1 focus followed by a 30 minute run on the beach.
Andi decided to join in with the swimmers for the run but regretted this within minutes of starting. Matt Smithurst gets a special mention for completing his run like a true Commando by running through the sea knee deep with trainers on. Apparently this felt like running with bricks in his shoes!
Tracie prepared spaghetti bolognese for the girls' dinner whilst the boys went out to sample some of the local cuisine. Kane likened Miami to Norfolk - not sure where the similarity comes from?
Just one pool session tomorrow preceded by a weights session and then the afternoon off. Not sure yet what we will get up to but will be sure to keep you all posted.
