MIDLAND YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS 2011 - DX MORE MEDALS! MORE WINS!

Derventio eXcel swimmers competed at the Midland Youth Championships at Coventry.


There were many great performances for this stage in the season, particulary with some of the swimmers coming back from week and weekend long England training camps the majority of 27+ swimmers made finals and DX won over 35 medals.

DX Swimmers (some of which are pictured above with their silverware) won 14 Gold Medals, 12 Silver Medals and 10 Bronze medals:

GOLD MEDALS:

Jodie Hawksworth 100 Breast, 50 Breast
Zichen Liu 50, 100 and 200 Back
Molly Renshaw 400 I.M, 200 I.M, 200 Breast
Chris Steeples 200 Breast, 100 Breast
Evie Keane 400 Free
Hannah Jones 200 Fly
Kane Haggett 50 Free

DX Womens relay A team also won the GOLD in the 4 x 100m Medley relay, with a team of Emily Allsopp, Jodie Hawksworth, Evie Keane and Fran Marshall, most notably the DX B team also took the BRONZE medal in the same event with a team of Eve Farnsworth, Molly Renshaw, Hannah Jones and Tyler-Ann Black giving DX two teams winning medals in the same event showing their strength and depth.

James Lovatt 100 Back, 100 Fly, 100 Free
Chloe Johnson 50 Back
Kev Wallbank 200 Fly
Kane Haggett 50 Fly, 50 Back

BRONZE MEDALS were won by:

Womens 4 x 100m Medley Relay B Team Eve, Molly, Hannah J, Tyler
Hannah Jones 100 Fly
James Latham 50 Breast, 100 Breast
Lucy Wood 200 Back
Leah Hollingsworth 200 Breast - in her first ever Midland Championships!!
Sarah Vasey 50 Breast
Tyler-Ann Black 50 Fly
Zichen Liu 100 Free
Emily Allsopp 200 Back

This medal count gave Derventio 3 more medals in total from last years championships (36 in 2011 from 33 in 2010) and a whopping 14 GOLD medals compared to 8 in 2010.

On top of this MOLLY RENSHAW was awarded TOP JUNIOR GIRL for her performance in the Women's 200m Breaststroke where in heavy training was only .15 of a second off her British Record!
