Derventio eXcel swimmer Krissy Tomlinson has won the Ilkeston advertiser Young Sports person of the year award 2011.
Krissy was shortlisted for the award and attended the ceremony last night where she was crowned the winner.
Krissy who is a member of DX is also a member of Ilkeston Swimming Club where she started swimming a few years ago. Krissy then got selected to the DXDS (Derventio eXcel Development Squad) in September 2010 and has gone from strength to strength and earnt her place in the main squad. Krissy is following in the footsteps of swimmers such as Livvi Sefton and Connor Smith who also started off at Ilkeston swimming club and got selected for Derventio. Both Connor and Livvi have gone on and continue to have great success, with both swimmers winning national medals and Livvi representing Great Britain at the 2008 European Junior Championships.
Krissy has had a number of successes toping the BAGCAT awards at the County championships, City of Derby Open meet and our own Derventio eXcel open meets over recent months. She is also currently competing in her second regional championships in which she has already won a bronze medal in the 100m Backstroke.
Most importantly she has worked hard improving her techniques and training ability.
