Day two of the National Youth Swimming Championships started off with they dynamic duo of Kevin Wallbank Ben Goodall in the 200m Fly. Kevin stormed to another personal best time knocking 2 seconds off his pb to qualify for tonights semi-final. Teammate Ben Goodall who is fresh back from swimming for Great Britain at the European Junior Open Water Championships last weekend was just outside his best time.
Next up was Mischa Menzies who qualified for his first National Championships earlier this year. Mischa has seen a great progression through the season and swam the 400m Free in a lifetime best to qualify for tonights final! First Nationals, first National Final! Ben Goodall also competed in this one of his more favoured events but was outside his personal best time.
Molly Renshaw and Sarah Vasey then took to the pool in the 200m Breaststroke, Molly cruised through her heat to qualify for tonights semi-final, however, Sarah missed out on a semi-final place in a time that was 3 seconds faster than at last months Senior Nationals. Sarah will look forward to her 100m Breaststroke later in week.
Next up were the medley boys Kevin Wallbank, James Latham and Matt Smithurst. Kevin and James posted more personal best times to qualify for tonights semi-finals. Kevin now has 3 semi-final/final swims this evening.
Mischa Menzies was back in the water again in the 100m Free, swimming a lifetime best to qualify for the Semi-final. Club Captain Kane Haggett was also in this event and posted a solid performance for the Sprint king who is in heavy training at the moment ahead of his first Great British Senior International trip to USA in August.
Lastly the Girls 4 x 100m Free relay team of Frances Marshall, Molly Renshaw, Alana Simpson and Tyler-Anne Black put in a gutsy performance but finished outside the final.
